All three Surrey and White Rock Pacific Junior Hockey League teams have advance to Round 2 of PJHL playoffs.
The league’s Harold Brittain Conference whittled eight teams down to four in the first round, with the White Rock Whalers sweeping the Aldergrove Ironmen 4-0, winning their games 11-1, 9-1, 10-0, and 7-1. Surrey Knights bested North Vancouver’s Wolf Pack in five games, winning their first 4-0, but losing the second game 2-4, then winning the final three games 6-3, 4-3 (OT) and 7-2.
Cloverdale HC was also victorious over the Abbotsford Pilots in Round 1, after losing the first game 3-7. Cloverdale went on to win the next three games in a row, 8-3, 4-3 and 5-2, before losing Game 5 2-3, but winning Game 6 4-2 to take the series. The Cloverdale team will face off against the Whalers in Round 2, while the Knights will take on the Mission City Outlaws. The Round 2 playoff schedule for the PJHL’s tier 2 teams has yet to be released.
Round 1 of playoffs in currently underway for the league’s tier 1 teams, or Tom Shaw Conference, with the Richmond Sockeyes facing off against the Burnaby Steelers (Sockeyes are 2-0 in the series as of Feb. 27), Langley Trappers vs. Chilliwack Jets (2-0 for Langley so far), the Delta Ice Hawks vs. Coastal Tsunami (Delta leading 2-0 so far) and the Ridge Meadow Flames and Port Coquitlam Trailblazers with one win each so far.
