Players of the Week | Sherwin, Deol & Stewart

The PJHL has announced its Players of the Week for the week ending January 8.

Zach Sherwin, F, White Rock Whalers – The calendar says 2023 but nothing has changed for Sherwin who remains second in league scoring behind teammate Chris Fortems. Sherwin opened the New Year with two goals and a helper plus a 1st Star in a 5-2 home win over Port Moody and produced the same score line the next night in a 6-1 road win at Port Moody where he was again named 1st Star.

Sahilpreet Deol, D, Langley Trappers – Deol helped the Trappers to two wins which keeps them atop the Harold Brittain Conference standings. The 17-year-old right shot blueliner was solid in a 4-1 home win over White Rock in Langley’s first game of 2023 and came through with a goal and a 1st Star nod in another 4-1 win, this time on the road over Chilliwack.

Matthew Stewart, F, Richmond Sockeyes – In a busy three-game week, Stewart hit the scoresheet each night, helping the Sockeyes to five of a possible six points. Stewart had a pair of goals including the game-winner plus a 1st Star honour in a 4-2 road win at Surrey. He bettered that with a hat trick and 1st Star again in an 8-0 home victory over Abbotsford and concluded his week with an assist in a 3-2 overtime loss at Mission.
