SALISH CUP KICKS OFF TONIGHT

The Pacific Junior Hockey League, along with the Coastal Tsunami, Richmond Sockeyes, and White Rock Whalers, is pleased to introduce the Salish Cup.

Beginning this season, this trophy will be awarded to the team with the most head-to-head wins at the end of the regular season. The PJHL’s three ocean teams will compete for the Salish Cup – the Coastal Tsunami, Richmond Sockeyes, and White Rock Whalers.

The Salish Sea lies between Vancouver Island and the British Columbia mainland and connects these three teams. “We decided to name this trophy in recognition of the Coast Salish peoples who have lived in this region for a very long time,” said Director of Marketing, Media, and Sales with the Coastal Tsunami Giancarlo Nadeau.

The first battle for the Salish Cup kicks off tonight on the Sunshine Coast against the Coastal Tsunami and White Rock Whalers. “The Whalers look forward to participating in this new competition and wish our opponents the best of luck,” said Rob Rose, responsible for the Marketing and Business Development of the White Rock Whalers.

The winning team will be announced following the Coastal Tsunami and Richmond Sockeyes game on February 5, 2025. “Richmond is very excited to be a part of this and hope it will bring lots of excitement to our fans and the league,” said Sockeyes governor Doug Paterson.

The games between these three teams have become even more exciting. Each team will play each other four times during the regular season.
