White Rock Whalers Struggle in Overtime Loss and Shutout Defeat

WHITE ROCK, BC.

The White Rock Whalers had a tough weekend in their two most recent games, falling in overtime to Port Coquitlam and then being shut out by Chilliwack.

On Friday night, both teams’ defences were on display as neither White Rock nor Port Coquitlam (POCO) managed to score in the first two periods. Despite taking two penalties in the first period, White Rock successfully killed off both penalties and another in the second.

The game’s first goal came at the 8-minute mark when POCO broke the deadlock. However, Jonah Ussher answered for White Rock, scoring at 13:50 to tie the game. With the game heading to overtime, POCO capitalized 94 seconds into the extra period to secure the win.

Whalers goalie Garin Wickstrom was stellar, making 38 saves on 40 shots, and was named the game’s third star for his efforts.
