The PJHL has determined its Players of the Week for the week ending Oct. 30.
Cayden Karcioglu, F, Mission City Outlaws – The first player from the Outlaws to earn a POW nod this season, Karcioglu picked up two goals and three assists in three games to help Mission City to a 2-1 record for the week. Karcioglu had a power-play goal and a helper in a 7-3 road win over Surrey where he was named 1st Star. The Chilliwack native had an assist in a 4-1 setback to Langley but responded in the second part of the home-and-home with the Trappers as he had another one-goal, one-assist road game in a 4-2 win against Langley. In 15 games, Karcioglu has now surpassed his point total from his 37-game campaign last season.
Bryce Margetson, D, White Rock Whalers – Margetson was a force on special teams last week; he opened the scoring on the power play and then set up a shorthanded goal by Chris Fortems to propel the Whalers to a 4-2 road win over Aldergrove where he was named 2nd Star. It was also his 100th game in the PJHL, all with the Whalers. In White Rock’s other game, Margetson assisted on the opener and the game-winner, both on the man advantage, as the Whalers defeated Abbotsford 3-1.
Jonathan Soares, D, North Van Wolf Pack – After just joining the Pack from VIJHL Kerry Park, Soares’ addition paid off right away as the blueliner posted six assists in two games. The Surrey native had his first helper on the winning goal in a come-from-behind 5-3 win over Abbotsford. He then went off for five assists, including three on the power play, as North Van defeated Surrey 7-2.
