Whalers Battle Abbotsford and Port Coquitlam in Weekend Series
WHITE ROCK, BC.
The White Rock Whalers avenged an early season loss against the Ridge Meadows Flames and followed that win up with a decisive win over the Grandview Steelers over the weekend.

On Saturday, the Whalers hosted the Flames in a highly anticipated game. The Flames handed the Whalers their first loss of the season back in September in a 9-1 affair.
"The 9-1 loss was early in the season when we were just finding our legs, but these last several weeks, we have been playing good hockey and continued that against Ridge Meadows," Brien Gemmell said.
In this game, the Whalers flipped the script and came at the Flames, mounting a surge of offense and winning 7-5.
The Whalers opened the game with a three-goal unanswered sprint as Ethan Whiton, Aiden McGregor-Bennett, and Max Lyons would all score.
The Flames answered in the second period with two goals of their own, split by a Whler goal from Andrew Strand, who scored his first of the season.
The third period saw a blitz of goals, with six total and three apiece, but Whiterock was able to add to its lead with a goal and Justin Osborne two from Zachary Johns to help the Whalers seize the win.
"The third period was a product of what we wanted to do. We stuck to our game plan and knew we had to score more goals than Ridge Meadows, who scores a ton," said Head Coach Brien Gemmell.

The following day, the Whalers would take on the Grandview Steelers at the Burnaby Winter Club. After conceding two goals in the first to go down 2-0, the Whalers responded with a six-unanswered goal spree, with four in the second period from Johns, who scored twice, and Dylan Heer and Jonah Ussher, who added two more.
Ethan Whiton and Keenan Connor would notch the Whaler's fifth and sixth goals in the Third.
