The PJHL has announced its Players of the Week for the week ending Oct. 8.
Gabriel Adam, Defenceman, Grandview Steelers – The Steelers captain put his stamp on the week with a goal, an assist and a shootout winner. The North Vancouver native had the primary assist on his team’s lone goal in a 4-1 setback at the North Van Wolfpack on Oct. 7 and followed that with a third-period marker to help send the game to OT where he authored the shootout winner in a 4-3 triumph over Port Moody where he was named 1st Star.
Ty Balchen, Forward, Port Moody Panthers – In a busy four-game week, Balchen hit the scoresheet three times to help the Panthers go 2-1-1. Also a North Van product, Balchen assisted twice in a 3-1 win over Poco to start the week. He scored the opening goal and added a helper in the third in a 5-1 win against visiting Aldergrove and wrapped his week as 3rd Star in a 4-3 shootout loss to Grandview.
Derek Leroux, Forward, White Rock Whalers – Saving his best for last, Leroux took over his team’s lead in scoring with a five-point outing as part of a 10-5 win Oct. 8 against North Van where he was named 1st Star. The Coquitlam native assisted on White Rock’s first goal against North Van and then scored and added a helper in the second period. Leroux set up two more in a five-goal third period to wind up with 1-4-5 for the game. Leroux now has 5-7-12 in eight games this season.
